Calvary Chapel Sonora’s Mission’s Ministry is rooted by the call in Acts 1:8, where believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to share about Jesus in our community and afar: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
It is our hope to fulfill the great commission encouraged by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 and extend opportunity to all to know Christ. “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’” (Matthew 28:19-20).

In Liberia, poverty and illiteracy still affect much of the population. How can people be like the noble Bereans—examining the Scriptures daily—if they cannot read them?
Discipling the next generation is key to lasting change. Since 2003, Calvary Chapel Sonora has partnered with Calvary Chapels in Liberia. Our scholarship program, launched in 2010, has grown from a few students to over 160 today. Most attend a strong Christian school led by three former scholarship students, known for its quality and low tuition ($80 per semester for pre-K–9, $100 for high school).
Our focus is literacy, with support for high school completion and limited help for college. We invite you to partner with us in this transformative work.

The Brower family serves at Refugio Comunidad Cristiana in Valdivia, southern Chile. Since its first service in 2018, the church’s mission has been to glorify God through worship, biblical preaching, faithful Christian living, evangelism, and missions. Don began as assistant pastor and translator and became full-time pastor in 2021.
Refugio focuses on equipping believers for ministry and reaching the Valdivia region with the gospel. Its name, meaning “Refuge,” reflects the desire for people to know and trust God as their source of strength and help (Psalm 46:1).
The church also actively serves vulnerable children. With state permission, members regularly visit two local orphanages through a program called “Día en la Residencia,” offering Bible lessons, activities, academic help, and care. They also lead the Familia Real program in Valdivia, organizing camps and monthly clubs for children ages 6–12 who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Regarding: French- Speaking Pastors & Leaders Conference 2026
In just four days, I will be leaving for Burundi, East Africa, with the Calvary Relief International team for our upcoming mission trip, August 25–September 7.
A central part of this trip will be the French-Speaking Pastors & Leaders Conference, hosted by Calvary Chapel Bujumbura from August 31–September 4. Pastors and ministry leaders from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania will gather for a time of biblical teaching, fellowship, encouragement, and prayer.
Please pray that the Lord will refresh, strengthen, and equip every pastor and leader attending. Many are serving faithfully in very difficult circumstances, and we are asking God to use this time to encourage His servants to stand firm, fight the good fight, and finish strong.
During the trip, our team will also visit CRI-supported Bible schools and church plants, as well as spend time serving families in refugee camps who have fled the devastating war in the Congo. We are looking forward to seeing the fruit God has produced through these ministries—fruit that has come through the prayers, generosity, and partnership of so many faithful supporters.
For the past ten years, Calvary Relief International has served in Burundi, the Congo and tribal Kenya by equipping pastors, strengthening churches, feeding the hungry, and sharing the love and hope of Jesus in areas where many have never heard His name.
